Ashanti's got some fans Alright!

An Ashanti "fan" was sentenced two years in jail on Thursday, February 18th, for sending lewd texts to the singers mother. The fan Devar Hurd harassed Tina Douglas [Ashanti's Mother] with lewd messages, including snapshots of the Douglass family home and other inappropriate photos.

Hurd was convicted of aggravated harassment and stalking in December 2009.

"My intent was not to harm," the 31-year-old told the court according to the AP. "I always wish the best for [Ashanti]."

Hurd's messages, which he described as jokes about how he'd one day live with Ashanti's family, frightened Douglas so much that she hired additional security. She says she told Hurd numerous times that she did not know him and unsuccessfully asked that he leave her alone.

Still, Hurd, a native of Griffith, Indiana, did not betray a convincing enough psychiatric problem to garner psychological treatment from to the jury. However, following his conviction, doctors classified Hurd as suffering from a delusional disorder, according State Supreme Court Justice Thomas Farber, but the mental-health treatments were moot because Hurd could not find a New York residence to continue his treatment.

In response, the judge handed down the maximum sentence for Hurd's misdemeanor crimes in hopes of him receiving psychiatric care in confinement. Still, Hurd's prosecutors weren't satisfied.

"Even if he believes that Ashanti was in love with him, his conduct was not that of a man wooing a woman," said Assistant District Attorney Carolina Holderness. "He was not sending her flowers."

Miss Minaj On the Cover of FADER?

Nicki on Her Status in the Game and Being a Personality:
“I don’t know where I fit in the spercturum of rap yet, I think now I’m kind of proving myself, but before, people thought of I was more of a sex symbol or wannabe sex symbol. Now they’re seeing. That’s why I make the goofiest faces, I don’t want people to think I’m up here trying to be cute. I’m trying to entertain, and entertaining is more than exuding sex appeal. I don’t think that’s fun. I don’t find it fun watching someone trying to be sexy. It’s wack. I’m trying to just show my true personality, and I think that means more than anything else. I think when personality is at the forefront, its not about male or female, its just about, who is this weird character?”

Nicki on Control and Writing Her Own Rhymes: “I am so territorial, that [from the start] I just felt like whatever I was gonna do I was gonna write it myself, its my personal preference to always be in control of everything I do in life.”

Nicki on Writing ‘Saxon’ For Rihanna: “This wasn’t supposed to come out in the world with Nicki Minaj on it. This was written for someone else, and I felt so f*cked up behind it. But I thought the beat was very different, and I wanted to write something for Rihanna that showed like, I already shut that sh*t down.

Jay's Thoughts On "We Are The World" Remake

“We Are The World 25 For Haiti” made its debut before the start of the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Jay-z feels as if it should have been left the way it was.
“I know everybody is gonna take this wrong: 'We Are the World,' I love it, and I understand the point and think it's great,” Jay told MTV.com. “But I think 'We Are the World' is like [Michael Jackson's] 'Thriller' to me. I don't ever wanna see it touched.”

"As everyone knows, I have tremendous respect for Quincy Jones. Of course, I think he's genius, as everyone else does. [But] I think it's time for us to make a new [song]."
“I tried to do that with 'Stranded,'" he explained. "I didn't try to make 'We Are the World,' but I tried to make our take on how we felt."

I agree with Jay! I like how everyone came together for a good cause, but I feel like they should have all made a new song, together! :)

Lil Wayne + Cracked Tooth = Delayed Sentencing?

As we all know Lil Wayne was sentenced to be on Rikers Island for a year. But due to a bad tooth, his sentencing has been delayed until March 2nd.

But the request made by Wayne's defense was hardly guaranteed: He had a large contingent of supporters from the CM/YM camps arrive with him, seemingly ready to send him off.

Dr. Sherry Rudd who has 13 years of dental experience in private practice and working with inmates, said that although she doesn't know Wayne's exact ailment, the symptoms- a cracked tooth, ten days of recovery time, his propensity for sweets and the condition of his teeth- point towards the rapper having an infection.

Without knowing specific details- and Wayne's attorney, Stacey Richman, declined to specify the
ailment in court and afterward- Dr. Rudd said it's difficult to pinpoint exactly what type of surgery the lyricist may undergo. She did note that the procedure probably isn't major, but she described it as complex given the variables.

There are dentists in prison facilities who are capable of treating Wayne, she said, but Rudd said since this is reportedly part of ongoing work Wayne reportedly has been having done, its best to stick with his personal oral surgeon.

"If the tooth just needs to come out, most dentists can do that," Rudd said. "You have different root structures; it could be a wisdom tooth, or impacted, it depends on the tooth. When I was in school we had rotations where we went to prisons, so they have the ability in those facilities. But if they're going to take anything out and its infected- and because of the condition of his teeth- it shouldn't just be anybody."
